**Heads up, builders:** applications for the Cardano track at the TOKEN2049 Origins Hackathon just got extended to September 18, so you’ve got a few extra days to throw your hat in.

The challenge is a fun one: figure out how AI agents and autonomous apps can transact on Cardano using x402, the open payment standard built for programmatic, machine-to-machine payments. You’ll get 36 hours, October 6–7 in Singapore, to go from idea to working product and demo it live on the main stage.

There are 200 free spots up for grabs and $27,500 in prizes split across three winners, basically a playground for experimenting with agent-to-agent payments, autonomous services, and whatever the agentic economy turns into next.

Want in? Applications close September 18. [Full announcement and details here](https://x.com/Cardano_CF/status/2098033305497092575?s=20)

Got a solution that could actually move the needle on real-world problems? Applications are open for Cohort 3 of the SDG Blockchain Accelerator, a joint effort between the [Cardano Foundation](https://www.linkedin.com/company/cardano-foundation/), [UNDP AltFinLab](https://www.linkedin.com/company/undp-altfinlab/), and [Chain for Good](https://chainforgood.org/).

This round, the Foundation’s putting serious weight behind a dedicated Cardano track. Up to four teams get selected for equity-free funding, hands-on technical mentorship, and direct integration support, tackling real challenges straight from UN country offices. Think digital identity, payments, supply chain traceability, and transparent data systems, the kind of work that actually ships.

The acceleration runs four months, October 2026 through February 2027, with a real shot at public-sector deployment on the other end. Applications close September 30

Meet Baudouin, one of the newest faces in the Cardano Ambassador Program. Based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his journey into blockchain kicked off as a student after stumbling into a local Cardano community event. What hooked him wasn’t the price charts, it was the idea that blockchain could go way beyond crypto and actually tackle real-world problems.

With a background in rural development, humanitarian work, human rights, and community building, Baudouin saw an obvious overlap between Cardano and the work he was already doing. Today he leads the Nyiragongo Cardano Hub, connecting Francophone African communities with Web3 through education, financial inclusion, digital identity, and decentralized governance.

As an Ambassador, he’s all about building bridges, linking the global Cardano ecosystem with communities across the DRC and Africa. That means meetups, workshops, governance discussions, and training, all aimed at turning local communities into active participants instead of passive users.

His vision going forward: Cardano driving real, tangible impact across Africa.

Cardano’s got no shortage of people documenting it, explaining it, and building on it out in the open, and this week we’re giving them their flowers. Below is a mix of voices: creators breaking down technical upgrades and staking basics for newcomers, and builders giving firsthand updates on what they’re shipping. A few Content Creator Spotlights from across the ecosystem::

* [MB (@Mb\_you\_know)](https://x.com/Mb_you_know) kept the streak alive with Day 21 of their daily Cardano thread series, “What Is Inside a Cardano Block?” He walks through the basics: transactions, the header that ties a block to the one before it, the cryptographic link that makes the chain a chain, and the producer data used to verify who signed it. For this and more, [see Day 21 here.

* The Crypto Dossier channel dropped a September 13 video on the x402 Cardano integration, now past 10,000 views. It covers Cardano moving from spec-only to a working implementation in the official x402 repo, so apps and AI agents can pay per request, plus extras like Masumi’s optional trust layer. * This week’s Cardano Seminar spotlighted RealFi, with CEO [John O’Connor](https://x.com/jjtoconnor) breaking down how the project turns idle on-chain dollars into yield backed by real-world credit, complete with a three-token setup, built-in risk protections, and a look at what’s next on the road to mainnet. [Watch it here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=735yJ_erh2A).

* Separately, [Carlos Lopez de Lara](https://x.com/carloslodelar) sat down with Ouroboros Leios architect [Sebastian Nagel](https://x.com/ch1bo_) for a live lab demo, pushing a local Leios cluster to 250 TxkB/s (about 1,000 TPS), well past mainnet’s current ceiling. The next challenge: making those numbers hold up on the real internet. [Missed it? Watch it here](https://x.com/carloslodelar/status/2099763976561181130?s=20)!

The [Cardano Foundation](https://x.com/Cardano_CF)’s been busy, dropping updates that span everything from enterprise wins and institutional outreach to global events, education, and governance.

As per the [Cardano Foundation](https://cardanofoundation.org/blog/august-2026-activities)’s August 2026 ecosystem update, published September 8, it was a stacked month: the IBC bridge audit cleared (Cosmos interoperability, officially unlocked), 160 Olympic Committee staff went through CF’s blockchain education program, and Reeve 1.7 shipped, the Foundation’s on-chain financial data toolset. Full breakdown [here](https://cardanofoundation.org/blog/august-2026-activities).

Biggest flex of the update, according to the Foundation, goes to [Blockforce](https://www.linkedin.com/company/blockforce/), whose supply chain platform went live on Cardano August 31 and got its own formal [Cardano Foundation case study](https://cardanofoundation.org/case-studies/blockforce) on September 7. Per that case study, the numbers are wild: 500,000+ supply chain records already anchored on-chain. The setup runs a dual-ledger architecture, sensitive commercial data stays private on a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric network, while cryptographic fingerprints get anchored publicly on Cardano. Using a batching tool called uVerify, they’re grouping up to 44 certificates per transaction, which the Foundation says cuts cost per record by 92%. The first big deployment is Azzas 2154, Latin America’s largest fashion group, tracking its leather supply chain across 6,200+ suppliers to stay compliant with the EU’s deforestation rules, with 95,000+ invoices already processed and a contracted target of 6.5 million records by 2030.

Also on September 8 , the Foundation announced that for TOKEN2049 they’re co-hosting the [Rooftop UTXO Pitch Night](https://luma.com/utxopitchnight), with [Draper Dragon](https://www.draperdragon.com) putting up to $500,000 on the table for selected teams. There’s also a TOKEN2049 Origins Hackathon track dedicated to the Cardano x402 agentic economy, $27,500 in prizes on the line.

Finally… a little history lesson on where the “Cardano” name actually comes from, Renaissance mathematician Gerolamo Cardano (1501–1576). Source: [Cardano Foundation on X: "Ever wondered why it's called Cardano? Cardano is named after Gerolamo Cardano (1501–1576), the Italian mathematician & polymath who pioneered early cryptography. A fitting tribute for a blockchain built on peer-reviewed research, math, and science." / X](https://x.com/Cardano_CF/status/2099136017731064115?s=20)

From [Intersect’s Weekly Update #128](https://intersectmbo.org/news/intersect-weekly-update-128-sep-11-2026): the newly elected Constitutional Committee officially took its seat in Epoch 654 following the ratified Update Constitutional Committee 2026 action, and GovTool’s active maintenance has moved to Sireto, led by original builder Sandip Pandey, who’s committed to keeping it open source and easy to self-host. Full update here.

There are also three governance actions still live with deadlines approaching rapidly:

the [Governance Incentives Framework 2026](https://gov.tools/governance_actions/f57f8fcb4e83ad1b6f58bffd4a302aacbb5a90874c83c5f84a7f8b4bb43ce9bc#0) (expires September 16, sitting at 1.62% DRep support), the [Ikigai Info deposit reimbursement](https://gov.tools/governance_actions/7d37220b71806410cc8adfbdafbad494e1ce3fdc674ab13c88a72b3b27de78d9#0) (expires September 16, at 58.26% DRep support), and the [OpenZeppelin Stack treasury withdrawal](https://dreptalk.com/t/withdraw-11-787-063-ada-for-the-openzeppelin-stack-administe-c1a628f7/) of 11,787,063 ada (expires October 11, currently at 0.02% DRep support). Get your votes in before those windows close. And finally, ChangWatch has officially rebranded as GovScope, with the transition kicking off September 13.

As the ecosystem prepares for its next major milestone, the Dijkstra era, node versions 11.1.1 and 11.2 are already paving the way for advanced protocol capabilities, node diversity, and dedicated testnet environments. Lots of great updates, but if you’d like to follow through on the Upgrade Bulletin for the full story, [read here](https://x.com/IntersectMBO/status/2098090433104818477?s=20).
